Axel Takeshi Wellbrock

AXEL TAKESHI WELLBROCK – Associate Consultant & Trainer

Professional Experience

Born and raised in Japan, and of German nationality, a large part of Axel’s career saw him grow from strength to strength in the highly specialized pharmaceuticals industry.

He left Japan to pursue his university education back in Germany. His career, spanning some 26 years, started off in sales, and thereafter, brand management, project management, strategic planning, business development and management of a business unit in pharmaceutical MNCs, like Boehringher Ingeleim, Bayer and Eli Lilly.

Broadband and versatile, Axel’s roles and responsibilities took him from Europe to the U.S., until things came a full circle; when he was posted to Japan in 2008, where he was Senior Director in AstraZeneca there for three years.

In 2012, he decided to put his 20+ years of international business experience in commercial leadership roles to work; by going full time into Consultancy, specifically in the areas of HRD, training, L & D, with the view to improve his clients’ business processes and growing their teams.

As a Consultant, he is involved in driving training needs assessments, individual development plans, on-the-job training (OJT), coaching/mentoring, classroom training and also instructional design for his clients. His objectivity, as an external Consultant has enabled him to support and facilitate in-company workshops and offsite meetings.

Fluent in Japanese, English, German and French, Axel has led multi-national teams in the U.S. and Europe, UK and Slovenia included. His wealth of experience has cut across borders and cultures.

Based in Singapore, Axel’s solid and intimate understanding of the intricacies of operating in and doing business in Japan is his unique proposition. He remains actively involved in Japan where pharmaceutical MNCs consult him in ‘internationalizing’ their way of operating in various aspects of business.

On a global stage, Axel has been engaged by clients to guide and coach their Asian talents into global roles, and support them in building new organizations and teams.
